Gastric Balloon Procedure

The gastric balloon and non-surgical weight-loss interventions are generally suitable for: • Patients with a BMI between 27 and 35 looking for a safe, non-surgical solution • Patients with a BMI ≥ 30 who have weight-related health conditions (such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, or joint disease) • Patients with a higher BMI (≥ 35) seeking an effective non-surgical kickstart to weight loss or who may not be candidates for surgery • Patients of certain ethnic backgrounds with metabolic conditions where clinical guidelines recommend a threshold of BMI ≥ 27.5 If your BMI is outside these ranges, or if you have recently lost weight, your previous weight history and health status will be carefully reviewed during your consultation with your doctor.

If your BMI is lower than 27, but you are not comfortable with your weight, there are still effective options. If you have tried different weight loss methods without lasting success, we offer our unique course of 'Psychological Correction of Eating Habits' (PCEH) that helps you address psychological factors as well as your nutrition and eating behavior. For patients with a BMI of 27 and above, the gastric balloon is an ideal non-surgical solution. A soft expandable silicone balloon is placed in the stomach endoscopically through the mouth and filled with sterile saline to occupy space. The balloon creates an early feeling of fullness so you are satisfied with smaller portions, helping you reduce calorie intake and achieve steady, sustainable weight loss.

When it comes to medical weight loss, no BMI is too high. The main goal of the procedures we offer is to help patients achieve a healthy weight. However, please note that if your BMI is higher than 50, your doctor will advise you on any dietary preparation required prior to the procedure.

We recommend that our patients consult their personal doctors before leaving for treatment. Most doctors are aware of the main concerns of medical travel, so patients would greatly benefit from their advice and critical summary of your personal case.

To reserve a date for your procedure, we ask our patients to transfer us a small deposit. The balance is paid at our clinic after your consultation with your doctor. We accept payment in Kenya Shillings, Euros, Pounds and US Dollars, as well as debit and credit cards (Visa and MasterCard). Some banks have specific policies about making transactions in foreign countries. If you plan on paying with your debit or credit card, please contact your bank to make any necessary adjustments, including increasing your payment card limit if necessary.
