I've always been a big girl. It's just how I'm built. And like many of us, I've tried everything to lose weight. Fad diets that promised quick results? Been there, done that. Exercise routines that left me sore and discouraged? Yep, tried those too. The problem was, nothing seemed to stick. The weight would come off for a while, but then it always crept back on. It was a frustrating cycle.
Then came a big loss in my life, the passing of my mom. It hit me hard, and I felt like I had completely lost control. My weight ballooned, and it wasn't just about the numbers on the scale. My health started to suffer. I'd get out of breath easily, even walking short distances. The constant sweating was bad enough, but the worst part was the reliance on my inhaler. As someone with asthma, I always had it with me. But now, it felt like I was using it every few minutes, even when I was just resting. That’s when i decided i needed to do something or i was going to die .
My Nairobi Bariatric experience
Almost 6 months into the year I walked into the doors of Nairobi Bariatric after I had been referred by a close friend.. I didn’t know what to expect and was quite nervous. What I love about the Center is how they walked me through each step and we began the journey that definitely changed my life! The team was so kind and accommodating, it immediately felt like home.
The needles themselves weren't nearly as bad as I'd built them up to be in my head. The staff walked me through each step, explaining exactly what they were doing. They were so friendly and we laughed and laughed until they had to tell me its time to start.
Life after Gastric Balloon
Losing 21kgs in 5 months is fantastic, but it's honestly just the tip of the iceberg for me. Sure, my clothes fit great now, and I actually enjoy shopping for new outfits! But the real transformation is how I feel on the inside.
I have the energy to visit friends and family, to be truly present in their lives. My mental health has soared – I feel lighter, happier, and more confident. And let's not forget my physical health! My womanly health is back on track, with regular menstrual cycles. It's a relief I can't even describe.
